OK... I thought the programs like Nero, VCDEasy handled all, but do I have to burn the bin-file manually onto my VCD to make it play on my standalone Samsung DVD 511 dvd player?
I am confused... I know.. but what do I use the bin-file for...? I can't see any use for it... Am I right if I believe the bin-file is a picture (of 0s and 1s) telling the computer how the VCD is built?
Looking forward for answers...

A bin file is a disk image. It is an exact copy of whatever disk it was created from, or in the case of a bin you have authored, it is a basically a virtual copy of a disk yet to be burned.
Most programs have an option to burn a disk from an image, and most of these will accept a bin file as that image. Simply load the bin and hit burn and it will properly burn the disk. Nero does not accept bin files by default. You can still burn a bin with it but it can sometimes cause problems.
