  1. I've been authoring DVDs for the past few months now, and I just started playing with VCDs. I can get my mpeg video to play back fine on the PC, but when I put it in a set-top player (I've tried two different ones), it plays back in slow motion.

Why is that? How can I fix that? Does it have to do with the bitrate in which I am encoding the mpeg in the first place?

    Thanks,
    Casey

  2. It just might. What are you encoding it at? Computer DVD drives tend to read faster than standalone players. The TMPGenc template for DVDs has a constant quality of 9000, but professional DVDs are encoded at a VARIABLE bit rate UP TO 9000. They are usually not that high a quality, with the average hovering around 5000. But, then again, they have more space to play with when they use dual layer discs.
