Looking to make a music CD w/ multiple formats producing the broadest compatibility. (I've only ever listened to my music files on my PC, so believe it or not, I have not tackled this.) Recommendations? Thank you!

Just make a simple audio CD. Every burning software supports this. There is nothing more compatible. Plays in car CD players, walkmans, DVD players, boom boxes, computers, and on and on.

Formats would make it not compatible.

    Is this a serious question?

I'm serious. I burned an mp3 to a CDR with Windows and it wouldn't play in my CD player. What do you use? Thanks!

    AUDIO CD
Not mp3/wmv/wav or anything else. Audio CD.

Nero, RecordNow, Burnnn!, and every other burning software has the option to create an AUDIO CD not MP3 cd, not data cd.

Ahh, AUDIO CD--got it. Honestly, I was unaware. I don't think my IMGBurn does it. Appreciate your recommendations. Thanks!

The new, 2.4.0.0 version of ImgBurn does.

IMGBurn isn't really recording software, but an IMG burner. Though Lightning UK is adding other functions all the time.

For other freeware/opensource that can do this, check out InfraRecorder http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/ or Burrrn http://www.burrrn.net/?page_id=4

You need an application that fully supports the Redbook Audio CD specification, and to use good quality, high reflectivity blanks. If you have a low budget, consider Prassi ONES. If you have a decent budget, look at CD Architect from Sony (written in the Sonic Foundry days)

That's only from a CUE file,I honestly don't know why Lightning UK would muck up a great program by adding that feature.

I just did a test with a mixture of MP3 and .wav files with the new ImgBurn and it works perfectly....and I'm an idiot when it comes to BIN/CUE files....if it doesn't have .ISO after it I get confused.

You can load wav files (ect) into it, then it makes a cue sheet and burns, you do not have to have a pre-existing cue sheet.
