Large[19.5GB] VOB to MP4[H264]

I'm trying to acieve this with super but the filesize i'm getting is bigger than the mpeg2/vob source???
Super seems to be having big problems encoding this file but i couldn't encode each film (lord of the rings) and join them as h264 editing tools aren't out there ...
Anyone any ideas i'm trying to encode @ 560X304 surely this should come out smaller? i'm using 1248kbps hq mode
but surely this shouldn't be giving me a larger filesize than the vob?

WinFF should do what you want, it's far lighter on the system than SUPER. It has some good H.264 Presets for TV Out iPod use that do a great job at general use H.264.
