Several years ago I did some VHS capturing using VirtualDub 1.5.2 which worked well. Recently I was asked to bring it out of storage and again capture some old VHS tapes and it worked fine ... just as I remembered. But then I noticed that VirtualDub 1.7.7 was available so I downloaded and attempted to use the latest version ... and it failed. Under "Video Sources" all selections are greyed out and not available. However it still works fine with Ver 1.5.2. I don't see any settings that might remedy that? Any ideas?? I appreciate any input.

    GideonK,
I don't see an entry called "Device" in VirtualDub and I've checked each item in the drop down menus. Where should I look? It works in 1.5.2 and fails in 1.7.7. My card is an Nvidia VIVO and the driver version is 1.08 which is the only driver that works. Any other driver causes a white band to appear through my captures.

Duhhhhhh ..... I guess I need to head back to school!! :^)) Thanks GideonK and Sally to you both. I guess my confusion was that "Device" is not visible on 1.5.2 so I'm thinking that it somehow got corrupted. It must have been available at one time ... maybe when I first started using it. And "Device" is also not INITIALLY visible on 1.7.7. Device ONLY shows up at the top menu on 1.7.7 AFTER you select File>Capture. I selected VFW and all seems ok. I do appreciate both your responses ...
