A relative of mine has been looking for a decent comp deal on the net, saw this on e-bay, and wanted to know my opinion if its worth it:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140192103686

Now don't get me wrong, i am big into computers but i've been a laptop-only guy for the last 2-3 years and didn't bother stay up to speed in the desktop area. I guess it looks good to me but i'm curious what the rest of you think.

Any and all input would be appreciated

Looks like a decent computer for the price. But it is used so there's no telling how long it will last. I didn't see anything about a guarantee or warranty. He claims the XP home edition is fully installed and unregistered, but he doesn't specify what service pack (if any). I'd be wary about trying to register it for updates.

That computer is sort of expensive. I just sold a computer a few weeks ago via craiglist for $155.00. The specs for it was a 120gb hard drive, amd mobile 2500+ Barton socket 462 cpu, asus a7n8x mobo, 1gb pc3200 ram, pioneer dvd burner, liteon dvdrom, 8x agp 128mb video card, 480 watt antec power supply with the oem xp pro w/microsoft hologram cd. The computer was used rarely so I decided to sell it. Take a look at craiglist in your home town because you may have a better deal than on ebay. Only thing is you'll have to meet the buyer.

Or how about building one for your relative. Geeks.com has a socket 754 msi mobo and socket 754 processors for dirt cheap. You could probably build it for a little over $200.00.

Geez, I guess I'll be getting one of those letters from Geeks.com. Good thing I haven't ordered anything from them in the last year but yah never know.
