LAN driver issue

Whats miniport windows installer?

for my LAN there is a driver version with and without the above... i have a marvell 88E8056 yukon... on a p5k-vm board http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=1690&l1=3&l2=11&l3=542&l4=0

note: i dont want to get it form the asus site because it is slow and also always outdated...

I'm guessing that is the OS part of the LAN drivers.

A NDIS miniport driver (also called a miniport driver) has two basic functions:

Managing a network interface card (NIC), including sending and receiving data through the NIC
Interfacing with higher-level drivers, such as intermediate drivers and transport protocol drivers

With Asus and some other MB manufacturers, I often use alternative sites, such as Japan or China and get faster downloads. Even the European ones may be a little faster. The non-US sites, like Taiwan may have newer drivers available also. But you should be able to use the drivers from Marvell.

so would you say to use the one that has the windows miniport installer? it actually mentions it under the support tab...

It's been a while since I used a Marvell Yukon LAN on a Asus MB, but I believe I did have to use the miniport drivers along with the LAN card drivers.

Others more knowledgeable about networking may have some better ideas.
