    Happy New Year everyone!

I am trying to make my Sony AVD-K800P a region free player. From what what I have learned up to now, Sony is the hardest brand to unlock, there is very little information available.

Does anyone know the equivalent DVD Player Only model number for the AVD-K800P Home Theater?

    Thanks,
    Ted

All DVD players can't be unlocked. There may not be an unlock code for your player. Also, firmware changes by manufacturers during the production run sometimes break known hacks that used to work but no longer do because of the firmware change.

Sony players typcially support it out of the box or they don't. Very few can be hacked and the hack typically requires special hardware, it isn't a simple remote code.

That's what I was afraid of. DVD players are cheap enough these days. Does any "name brand" make a region-free player?
    Thanks a bunch.

Philips makes a variety of players that can usually be unlocked. Oppo

makes some highly regarded players that come region free out of the box. They aren't cheap, but you get a higher quality machine for the money with better components than the cheap players use.
