    A very prominent poster here told me my version of Mencoder was out of date. I currenlty have Mplayer 1.0rc1-3.4.2 and I am not sure what version of Mencoder I have.

    First, anyone know why the "Download from authors tool site" on the Mplayer page doesn't work?

    Second, when I download "mplayer2007.12.03.7z " from the mirror site, unzip it and try to play a movie, I get the following error:
    <error>
    This application has failed to start because pthreadGC2 was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem
