  1. Sorry if i am asking a question that has been asked b4, but i want to transfer a DVD title to VHS using my PC.

I have a Geforece 2 video card with TV out, is there DVD software players that disable macrivision for me to be able to do this, and what other hardware would i need, cables etc.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

  4. Try ripping the DVD movie you want to record to the hard disc. Make sure you have selected the setting "remove macrovision".

I don't know if your software that came with your card will play a DVD from the disc, but if it doesn't PowerDVD XP 4 will. You can then record to your hearts content.

The problem occurs when the source has macrovision. This is passed through the TV out to your VHS or home theater. To bypass it you have to use a "demacrovision" device or remove the macrovision from the source.

  5. Have you tried to do this yet?. I have a geforce 2MX and I dont have any problems with macrovision. A friend of mine that took a closer look at the card told me that there is a chip that decode the macrovision. I usually use powerdvd or Windvd.

    This is only my speculation.

Even tho a card, mine being an ATI will decode macrovision it will pass the macrovision to an outside source through the TV out. A video recorder, unless its an older model will not record that outgoing signal because of the macrovision. I've tried and it doesn't work unless you remove the macrovision from the source.

Not all cards are the same. So I can only for sure say what mine does.

  7. I have the same graphics-card and use a small program called tvtool (go check it out at http://www.tvtool.de. It removes not only the macrovision but also these anoying black borders to the sides of the screen. I've done several very good copies to VHS with this program. Do a search on Google as well for this proggie . Good luck, Jack

  8. Well damnim I can only speak of my own experience, but i did a few dvd (both reg1&2) to video copies and it work fine from my computer. If i go from my standalone to vcr I can't get rid of macrovision. I only tried using TVCC2000(as i didn't get tvtool to work with my geforce2) and i dont know if it's the TVCC2000 or the geforce-card that remove the macrovision. If I was wrong I'm sorry if I missled anyone.

By the way I really recommend TVCC2000 as i can convert NTSC to real PAL and record it to video. I guess it works the other way around aswell. Only a very few standalones can do NTSC to real pal50, allmost all of them can do a pal60 trough Scart and that works fine to a tv but you can't record it on a standard vcr.
