  1. Hello group,

A couple of years ago, I bought a LifeView Ultra TV Walker External USB. It works fine for viewing, no complaints.

It's the included software when I try to record shows that is lacking. It almost always crashes within an hour or two when recording. I want to use my PC for recording TV shows now, so I want to solve this problem, finally.

What's almost as bad, is this included TV recording and viewing application allows only one unnattended recording. That is, I can't pre-program more than one show.

    Some PC facts:
This tuner has been used on two desktop PCs and one laptop PC. The OSs are/were Win 2000, XP-SP1, XP-SP2. Exactly the same crappy behavior. Therefore, I'm sure it's the hardware/software mix, or plain poorly designed hardware.

Does anyone have experience with this hardware, and can recommend better/stable recording software for the PC?

    Thanks,
    JB

Have you tried it after all other usb devices have been removed .
Dont use pc while its engaged in "record mode" either .
Check power management in control panel is disabled .
    Screen saver disabled .
Bios ... check power saving and "wake devices" settings are disabled .

What is devices power consumption requirements ?

    Try it then .

Nero record , windows movie maker , windows media encoder , ulead videostudio , sony vegas , and others should work with the device ... some better than other's .

  3. Hi, thanks for the reply. I probably could do these things you suggest. You think they will help? I have no way of checking power usage. But it does come with a Y-adapter to plug into two USB ports if one does not supply enough power. I tried with the same crashing result.
