  1. Can anyone who has made a video using premiere than converting it to a playable VCD in a DVD player, post there VCD files for download along with exact steps and encoders etc. etc. I know this is alot to ask but Im getting desperate :(

  2. To start, you'll need an encoder that does MPEG1. There are several free ones that you can find references to on this outstanding web site and there are several you can buy. (I use Ligos LSX Premier plug-in). After you have that, it's a snap-- simply export the timeline to a movie using the correct plug-in settings for VCD. It will render the work space on the timeline to the file you specify (i.e. the mpeg file).

You then need an authoring program like Roxio Easy CD Creator, Nero, or others to build the disc image and write it.

Where are you at in this process?

  3. As what MegaBit said. You need an MPEG-1 plug-in with Premiere if you want to export directly to MPEG-1.

I personally have a very poor opinion of the LSX plug-in for Premiere (for VCD spec MPEG-1) and I would strongly suggest you get the Panasonic MPEG Encoder plugin.

bbMPEG comes as a plug-in for Premiere as well and is freeware (but is slow and quality is probably not as good as Panasonic).

Alternatively, you could use AVISynth with Premiere and frameserve to the encoder of your choice (e.g., TMPGEnc).

For more on AVISynth, I suggest you check out the guides at http://www.doom9.net
