Authored a DVD with menu in DVDLab. Process went just as smoothly as every other time I've done it. But when I went to burn in Nero I got "DVD file allocation failed." I don't see any zero-length files; it looks just the same as all the other times I've authored DVDs, so I don't understand what Nero doesn't like. (The last disc I burned had the same menu and it was okay.) Went through the whole conversion/authoring process again and got the same message.
The files I have are:
VIDEO_TS.IFO 12KB
VIDEO_TS.VOB 38KB
VTS_01_0.IFO 78KB
VTS_01_0.VOB 118KB
VTS_01_1.VOB 1,047,562KB
VTS_01_2.VOB 1,047,562KB
VTS_01_3.VOB 1,047,562KB
VTS_01_4.VOB 1,047,562KB
VTS_01_5.VOB 75,630KB
If I open VIDEO_TS.IFO in a media player, the menu displays and operates correctly and the video plays. So, why is Nero having a snit and how can I fix it? I'd appreciate a "for dummies" answer, as I don't understand getting inside of ifo files. And do feel free to move this post if it would fit better somewhere else.

I have downloaded imgburn and will try it - but I'm a little concerned that if there really is a problem with one of the files, we'll end up having trouble when we go to play the resulting disc in the DVD player. That's why I'm really hoping to identify what's setting Nero off.

there may be nothing wrong with the files. what does nero say is wrong?

i can tell by looking though.. there are no BUP files. those are only backup of the ifo but still missing. you could copy the ifos and rename th extentions to BUP. dont know if nero is pissing about that or not

There were bup files - I just didn't list them. Same length as the ifos, nothing weird there. Nero doesn't say anything is wrong, it's just saying allocation failed.

"DVD Video files reallocation failed". Does the Nero warning also say something like.... "VIDEO_TS.VOB is not referenced and should not be present"? Nero will then ask if you want to burn anyways and that the resulting DVD "MAY" not be playable."
This is a very common issue with Nero, everytime myself or friends of mine have encountered this warning, it turned out that there was nothing wrong with the DVD, not once. It's just a Nero thing.
Nero's ok, but ImgBurn is far better for DVD burning, I highly recommend using it.
Follow this guide for burning single layer video_ts files:

Burn with ImgBurn and watch the DVD afterwards. If you get no errors during burning and playback you should be ok.
