If you go to any of the VCD, SVCD, etc, etc....on the top left of the site under What Is?, it gives you a pretty good idea of how they are set up and why there is both ntsc(usa & japan....) and pal(everyone else I think) It has to do with regions and how the aspect ratio shows up on the tele. It shows you for example 352x240 or 352x288, one being ntsc, the other pal yada, yada, yada..... Have fun!

  4. Zoeconner - if you leave in the USA, Canada or Japan use NTSC. If you live in Europe use PAL. In the US, many (but by no means all) new DVD playes can play either, but most US TVs ae NTSC only.
