  1. Anyone with the Movie Bound able to do a DVD to AVI?

I can rip the DVD and it plays back fine. When I convert to AVI with AutoGK with the orginal AC3, no sound. If I convert it to MP3, its way out of sync.

Any thoughts? This is the only problem I have ever had with AutoGK.

I had the DVD laying around so I gave it a shot. Used DVD Decrypter in IFO mode. When I opened the IFO in AutoGK 2.40, I got this message I've never seen before (and I've used AutoGK a few hundred times):

I picked PGC 1 (I had already picked PGC 1 in Decrypter).

AutoGK then encoded, keeping the original ac3. When finished, the audio was there, but it needed a delay of 4900 ms to sync up. The sync was OK throughout the movie after that. Maybe that extra PGC threw off the sync, I don't know.

The audio should be in the file. As far as I know it's just a straight copy from the ripped vobs. Check it in GSpot or Mediainfo to find out.

If it's there then I don't know what the deal is. You say the rip played back OK but I don't know what player you used. You may need to install ac3filter for playback if you haven't already. Or if the mp3 audio is OK with you, just apply the above delay with Vdubmod or AviMuxGUI:

    Great movie, by the way.[/img]

  3. Thanks for the Reply.

After I ripped the DVD, I played it back in WMP and Nero to make sure the sound was OK. (And it was)

How did you find the delay?

I found the delay by trial-and-error similar to what Guns1inger describes in his post cited above, except I used the KMPlayer instead of MPC because I haven't put MPC on my new computer yet. With MPC you can advance or retard the delay on-the-fly by using the + and - keys on the numpad (I think; I'm at work now so can't check) and it will show you the amount of delay on-screen briefly.

See Voodle's post on the top of page 2 of the above citation for further details and a nifty loop-back method if you're interested.

If you still have the soundless ac3 version of the avi, you might try playing it in VLC and see if the audio works, since VLC doesn't rely on Directshow filters.
