I've looked through all the guides but cant get it working.
I recorded film from my digital camcorder through my firewire card. Stored it as an avi format. Used the TMPG program to convert it to a SVCD format like they do in the guide. After that, I used the latest Nero to burn it to a SVCD.
The problem is no DVD player will recognize it. My ps2/dvd wont and my friends brand new sony wont either. It just says invalid disk.
Is there certain media that I shouuld use? I currently use memorex 16x max speed. Ive tried burning PAL and NTSC or whatever that format is.
I checked and US players play PAL correct? Either way, neither work. I burned on a 1:1 VGA ratio for a regular screen tv.
Please any help so I can get this working?
Im trying to surprise my wife with a small gift before she has my first child.
Thanks in advance.

Your problem is SVCD.
about 80% of standalone dvd players is compatible with vcd but only 20% is compatible with svcd.
ps2 can't even read a vcd, just dvd.
Most likely your standalone dvd will read a normal vcd.
