I have an .mpg movie I'd like to burn to DVD. I know I did this years ago but can't remember how.

Searching this site led me to FAVC. The web page says FAVC supports MPG to DVD, but the software itself does not. Or, at least, .mpg is not one of the options for source video files.

Start by opening the mpg file in the latest g-spot. Compare the specs to those cited in "What is DVD" (top left corner of this screen). If the mpg is DVD compliant, all you need to do is author. GUIForDVDAuthor is a free tool to do this. Muxman or Rejig can also do it but if you want menus GUIForDVDAuthor makes it much easier.

FAVC does support mpg files, but not directly. You would have to frameserve to it avisynth or virtualdubmpeg2.

Except that if it doesn't have to be re-encoded then it shouldn't be. Also, SUPER creates VOBs, but it doesn't create a DVD structure to go with. Utterly useless for DVD creation.

lennethg: Demultiplex the mpg files first, use for example BatchDemux
