Youtube: why the low volume?

I can't watch anything anymore on youtube becuase of low volume.
I've checked my system prefs for volume, and the keyboard etc. I'm out of ideas.

Also, it's defaulting over to the french version of you tube -- can't figure out that one either. thanks1

Check your Youtube account preferences
(if you have a Youtube account)

also are you saying that you go to www.Youtube.com
and the videos start playing automatically in French
or you end up at www.youtube.fr?

if the first, check System Prefs-->International, and make
sure that English is at the top of the Language List,
and that your formats and input menu are set to English
there as well ( For input menu, it should be US Extended).

for the second, you might just reset Safari, clearing out
all histories, cache, and possibly cookies to reset
it and try www.youtube.com again.

thanks, the deleting of cookies solved the re-direct to the French site
