  1. Hi there, I was wondering if its a problem with my dvd player (cant handle the bitrate?) or if I'm burning it wrong
I've used both nero and vcdeasy, and they both turn out fine on my PC DVD, yet play with a constant stutter (on my tv set top dvd player). I have noticed, tho, that when i use the jog dial to fast forward just a tiny bit(i have a 100x so i can adjust it accordingly) and the audio will play smoo th as the video fast forwrds and goes out of sync. Conversely, when I let the jog dial spring back, there is a 5 second span where there will be no audio played, and during this time the video is 100% smooth!!
Also, when I put in cd2, there is a very brief 2 - 3 second span where the audio and video are both synced and play perfectly smooth, but then proceeds to continuously stutter....
So I dont get it, is it because my player can not handle both the bandwidth of the audio and video at the same time?
currently im using tmpgenc to re-encode the cd4 MPG file, at a 2400 bitrate rather tahn (2520? whatever it was released as)

I read this at one of the dvd customer opinion pages about the exact same player i have:

"This DVD does not play standard compliant SVCDs, but plays non-standard compliant SVCDs if burnt in this way with NERO. I can play 720*576 at 2500 bit rate."

I have tried unchecking the compliant option in nero, and lotr is only 480x480, i dont understsand why mine still stutters. any ideas would be helpful!

  3. RV-31 does not support SVCD.
See your player's manual or player compatibility list.
As dav1dh suggested, you can try XVCD instead - you can find a guide here.
