I have an AVI with separate idx & sub subtitles. I know that I can convert it in Convertx2dvd to combine both, but what I really want to do is burn it as a data disk as my player will play dvix. I have both virtualdub & virtualdubmod. Can I do it with either one of those, and how, or do I need something else. I tried burning it, including both idx & sub, but the subtitles did not show up on the film. I could not access them. There must be a way that they can play when you burn as a data disk, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Can someone help. THANKS.

Convert from .sub to .srt using Subresync (included with Vobsub) make sure your filenames are like this -

    anynamecd1.avi
    anynamecd1.srt
    anynamecd2.avi
    anynamecd2.srt

I opened Subresync, opened MyTitle.sub, picked the language I wanted out of 4 languages available, clicked on save as, added MyTitle. sub, selected Save As Type & selected srt, clicked on Save & a window came up that says "Enter matching letter(s). Now what? Do I have to enter every single letter in all of the subtitles, which is what it appears to be doing. At that rate I'll be at it for a couple of weeks. I'm Obviously missing something or doing something wrong.

You can use SubRip for this. Each letter will be asked once, then reused automatically.

Thanks manusse, I'll give it a try. Still hoping for an explanation though on how to use Subresync. I know I'm not doing something right, I just don't know what.

You have to enter each letter, but only once. That's how OCR works, you have to "teach" it how to recognize each letter.

    It takes 20-30 minutes actually.

OK, I think I'm starting to get the idea. One question, will it let me know when I've gotten all the letters?

  8. Just do it. You'd have been done by now. No, it doesn't tell you when you've gotten all the letters. As you type in more and more of the sum total of all the letters (caps and small, and maybe italics, if you're unlucky) and numbers and punctuation and other odds and ends, it starts going faster and faster, until it just starts whizzing along.

You'll know when it's finished. SubRip says 100% at the top. And SubResync just stops showing more lines.
