I am not able to play all Divx formats with this player.

Is there a hack or firmware update that will allow me to do so?

    Thanks

No. You will need to make your files compatible with your player.

There is a Divx test cd at the top of the DVD Players page. Download, burn and use it to test you player. After you know what file types and encoding options your player supports, you will need to correct the files that don't play.

Thanks, so in otherwords. I will have to convert the files that won't play to another MPEG4 format? Wont there be a loss of quality doing? How would I accomplish this?

Also, is this typically only with the Magnasonic as I heard other companies offer updates every 6 months or yearly.

    Thanks.

  4. Quality loss? yes.

Most likely nothing to do with the firmware, more to do with the chipset used. They differ in features they can decode.

QPEL and GMC for example don't work on many players due to the hardware used.

It could be as simple as changing the 4cc code. But until you know which types of files actually work in your player, you could end up wasting a lot of time.

You can use a program such as gSpot to check the files and make note of any differences. Once you know what works and what is different in the files that don't, then you can research how to fix it.

All the information you need can be found in posts in the forums, or in actual guides which walk you through the process. Come back with specific questions and someone will help you out.
