  1. Found out the sad news today. Everything is on clearance and they will not be stocking them again Any other good places to buy from, if not what's the next best thing?

Sorry to ask such a common question but I've used Fujis all my life!

  2. Look for Taiyo Yuden:
    www.supermediastore.com
    www.newegg.com
    www.rima.com
    www.buy.com

    Next best(IMO) is Verbatim(MCC).

Do you mean Best Buy is clearing out Fujifilm CD-Rs period, because I find it hard to believe that it would target only the ones that are MIJ by TY. Heck, most of the sales reps probably don't even know there is a difference.

Verbatim isn't much better than Memorex these days IMO; both are rebranded Taiwanese media. You never see the DataLifePlus with Mitsubishi Super AZO dye in retail stores in the US anymore with the exception of maybe Micro Center.

Yup. Couldn't find any around town until finally found some on clerance. Had one of the sales reps look it up on the computer and Fuji is listed as "closeout"

Are there any good retail outlets out there that sell TY?

I've never seen FUJI CD-R's TY media at any of the local BEST BUY's in Hawaii. Although I've seen at SAMS CLUB MAXELL CDR's that are "MADE IN JAPAN".

Interesting, I'm a member of Sam's (I buy all of my Verbatim DVD blanks there) I'll check this afternoon.

Speaking of which I noticed Sams got rid of the Verbatim DVD+R DOUBLE LAYER 30 pack (3 packs of 10 which were annoying) and replaced them with a 50 pack spindal at a cheaper price per disc (about $1.30) I'm taking this as a good sign sales-wise.

It could be that Best Buy isn't paying their bills and they got cut off by Fuji. These chain retailers are notoriously bad about paying suppliers.

I was at best buy today in philadelphia and they had their fuji cd/dvd's on clearance sale. But I noticed they were made in Taiwan. So i'm asumming these are not made by Taiyo yuden right. Are these Taiwan ones any good?

There are two main places to look:

    1. K-Mart - They have Fuji CD-Rs on sale every few months for $7 per 50-pack. In many of the stores, they have MIJ stock (Taiyo Yuden).

    2. FYE - They tend to carry older Fuji media, and the last time I was there, about one month ago, my local store had a special sale of two Fuji CD-R 50-packs for $15.00 ($7.50 per pack). The packs I got were MIJ and Taiyo Yuden. They even had a couple of the MIJ Color Towers, which are also TY.

Just buy Taiyo Yuden online. Online retailers usually can match Best Buy on price anyway and when I factored in the time it was taking me to drive to Best Buy, look for something, pay for it and return, I realized that the time savings alone were worth it to me to just mail order Taiyo Yuden instead of going to Best Buy to buy Verbatim CD-Rs or some other brand.
