Hi
With my SD camcorder I would use FireWire+WinDV to transfer the videos onto the PC. I could then take the .AVI files edit them with just about any software, then compress them to .MPG to share them.
Now I've acquired the HD Sony HDR HC 7 which uses the HDV format. I used HDVsplit in the same fashion I would have used WinDV and now the files are on the PC as .M2T format. Question now is what software can I use to edit them (Vegas?) and what options do I have for compressing them so that I can share them (email clips etc)? I'd prefer it if the compression keeps things hi def. TKS in advance.

Yep, you can use Vegas see https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1563546#1563546 and export to wmv if you want to share it.

OK thanks. I wonder if WMV can be easily changed into whatever Blueray/HD-DVD use, in the same way I take my MPEG2 SD files and create a DVD with them. I assume you mean WMV-HD BTW.
