  1. Okay, this might be a stupid question but I haven't seen it posted before so please excuse me if this has been discussed. I break up my MPEGs into short segments, for example, live concerts I would seperate each individual song. My question is, is there a way to decrease or eliminate the pause between tracks when the DVD players plays the tracks?

I've noticed on DVDs that the movie itself is played seamlessly with chapters and such, but the change in MPEG2 files, like at the end of a deleted scene for example, there is the same type of pause that is apparent on the VCD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, don't break up your file to make tracks, use VCDEasy (or whatever its called) and make CHAPTERS. You get the pauses because its tracks. No pauses between chapters

Check the tools section on this site for VCDEasy, and good luck!

  3. Had the same problem. (For quiet some time I have to admit)

The answer above is absolutely correct.

Don`t break the mpeg up, make chapters. (Its far more convenient to.)

I use TSCV (very good, and once U know how to use its easy too, everything is here in the tools section)

but when you use 1 mpg file and VCDeasy to make chapters, the ->| and |<- button will not work as multiple tracks.

  5. okay, I would like to keep them as separate tracks if possible so I can rip the audio from each track to make an Audio CD as well, so is there a way to do this? A co-worker told me I might be able to fix this by tweaking the Nero config. Is this true?

Nero *does* offer the option of setting a time for the pause between your individual tracks. After you drag and drop your tack into the "burning" window, right click on the track, and select options. You will then see the # of sec for the pause. or you can set INDEFINITE for the pause.

    Good luck.

  7. You cannot get seamless playback between tracks. Multitracks are not chapters.

The only way of getting chapters on a VCD (i.e., seamless playback) is through entrypoints as others have pointed out:
    http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd/chapters.html
    http://www.vcdimager.org/guides/chapters.html (mirror)

Even if you set the wait time between tracks to zero, there will still often be a very noticable pause -- and at least a blemish of some sort. Exactly what happens will depend on your player.

Furthermore, if you want to make an audio CD, you should definitely NOT cut the MPEGs. Otherwise, your audio CD won't be seamless either and you will have gaps between tracks. You should save the audio as ONE wav file and then use a program like "CDRCue Cuesheet Editor" to create seamless audio tracks (like concert CDs).

    Regards.
