  1. Hi All,
Many thanks to everyone who has helped me with my problems in audio conversions.

I have hit a wall in trying to convert a dvd with PCM audio, does anyone know of a program that will convert it so that either a ACM or WAVE file can be created.

    Thanx

While WAV can have a number of codecs wrapped inside of it (VERY similar to the way video codecs are wrapped inside of an AVI), the usual, standard form of a WAV file is PCM. So you can think of a WAV as a PCM with WAV clothing, or a PCM as a nude WAV.

Lot's of good editors can "wrap" or "unwrap" this kind of data: Cooledit/Audition, Soundforge, Goldwave, even many video editors. There are a few utilities out there also: Easy Audio Converter, Complete Audio Converter, many others.

If you're going the PCM -> WAV direction, the audio program won't know ahead of time what the parameters of the file are, so you'll have to tell it (for DVD, this is almost always 16bit, Motorola/BigEndian, 48kHz, stereo).

    However...

If you're going from DVD anyway, there are a million tools HERE that will allow you to rip the DVD (or VOB) straight to WAV, no need to go to PCM first. That should make your job a little easier...
