    I just bought an Insignia NS-DRVCR trying to copy my old disney vhs to dvd...it won't let me because of the macro. Has anyone figured out how to disable this????

    You can't do it because of Macrovision protection. Neither can any DVD VCR combo. Diabling it is highly unlikely - no one has successfully disabled copy protection in any LG product.

    There are ways to accomplish the copy using separate DVDrecorders and VCRs. Try google searches or even search these forums.

    Be aware, what you want to do is illegal.

    Is it not "fair use" to copy your own tapes into another format for your own use? Perhaps not in the US but it's legal elsewhere.

    It is illegal to defeat the copy protection in many countries.

    It is also a violation of the terms of sale of many videos.

    When you choose to backup copyrighted materials you need to recognize the risk you are taking and make your own accessment of its importance.
