Ok i didnt know if this would be a good place to put this question, but here goes:

I have a dvd player, a 30' tv, and a ps2. I recently acquired a s-video cord but the thing is i dont have a s-video slot on the back of my tv, but i do have one in the back of my dvd player. The only cords i have are the s-video one that goes to the ps2, and one that connects the dvd player to the tv. I have the s-video cord in the s-video slot and the yellow and white (audio, video) in their spots on the back of my tv. when i play my ps2 games there is no change in looks or anything. when i had my old tv it made a huge improvement when i hooked s-video cords to it but i had the slot on my old tv. i didnt use a dvd player as a medium. is there any way to achieve this? the dvd player is hooked to the front of the tv and the ps2 cords to the back. i figured i had to have the dvd player on for it to kick in but when i turn on the dvd player it fuzzed up the game and looks like the dvd player is trying to overlap the screen so there is no way i can tell if its working or not. any help?

I'm afraid your set-up will not work. The ports on your DVD player are output only (I'm assuming this is indeed a DVD player and not a recorder). That's why when you turn both on the image gets screwy.

Also, you need the s-video input on your TV to be able to use s-video.

You'll need to stick to using the standard composite (yellow, red, white) cablles.
