I heard somewhere that some connectors (composite, s-vidéo, yuv, dvi, hdmi) have a limited resolution support.
Here's a list of the most popular connectors with
with their (supposed) maximum resolution (tell me if i'm wrong) :
Composite : 380i (maybe 220i, but it seems to be a small value...)
SVideo : 400i
YUV : 480i
HDMI : 1080i
DVI : 2400I
Thanks for your help guys.

For analog standards do you mean the maximum digital resolution you can capture from a maximum quality analog signal or do you mean typical resolution values from typical consumer sources? For analog, "studio" quality is near double what we see at home.Originally Posted by masterpingouin

Serial Digital: 480i, 576i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, 2kx4k, 4kx4k
Resolution is only one measure of video picture quality. Signal to noise and bit depth are also important.
