Ok, so I made some videos with my old Kodak camera, and, with kodak, the videos are automatically in the QuickTime format. I got a new sony camera that takes .wmv videos recently. I need to figure out how to convert the quicktime videos into .wmv becuase I'm making a video on Windows Movie Maker, and it won't take Quick Time files. I don't care what kind of files I convert them to, I just need Windows Movie Maker to accept them. It accepts .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv; so anything that can convert to those files (preferrably .wmv) would work. Somebody please help me out if you can.

You could try SUPER. It handles a lot of formats. I don't know that is does a great job converting to WMV, but you could convert to another low loss format that WMM could accept.

Or you could use VirtualDub Mod and convert to DV with the Panasonic DV Codec. DV works well if your files aren't too long. It uses about 13GB per hour, but WMM should accept it and it's fairly low loss.

WMM also outputs DV if you want to convert a video to MPEG later with minimal loss.

  3. I wouldn't suggest going out and buying it specially, but if you happen to have a copy 'lying around', Sony Vegas will import Quick Time and export in AVI. That's all I've used it for so far.

I just tried both of those. SUPER is confusing to me and I couldn't get it to work, and VD M doesn't accept the QT files I have. Any other ides? I need this...

Try mp4cam2avi (it supports mov too) and then windows movie maker.

If that wont work try super again, read a guide https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=942#942 .

"The way I see it is that there is no right or wrong" way to import QuickTime and export to AVI.
