    Hi all:

    Now I'm really in trouble.

Just bought a TARGA mp3 and video player.
I thought this would play directely AVi or DIVX files.

However on the contents book I see that it can only play: Motion JPEG video !!!

Is there any tool to convert my AVI files to this video format ??

    hilario.

Virtualdub. Download an MJPEG codec first, then that'll be available in Vdub's output compression type list.

If it's QT MJPEG, it would probably much easier to just open the avi with QT Pro (assuming it has the codec--DV, DivX/Xvid should certainly work) and then export to QT (MJPEG codec A or B).mov

What's the model of this player??

    Hi All:

I managed to make it work for the video , not for the audio!!

I converted with total video converter.

Now I'm trying to find out why audio is not playing.
When I play the converted movie on my PC the audio works !!!

    Any ideas ??

By the way do you know any free tool to make the same job as the TOTALVIDEO CONVERTER ??

    hilario.

Ok, I thought it could read AVI without convertion , but remember that most of the devices of this kind need a convertion before playing.
Whith Ipod even the music has to be converted.

I believe all the video devices of this kind need some sort of conversion, which makes them pointless. Just buy a portable DVD player, which works in most situations (execept for during extreme movments, during which you could not watch video on those small screens anyway). I would love to buy one of these devices, but they are very expensive, and need video conversion, so why bother?

Ok, looked at the pdf manual (online) and it supports:

    Audio--
    WMA
    MP3
WAV (PCM and ADPCM) (PCM= uncompressed)

    Photo--
    BMP
    JPG

    Video--
    MJPEG AVI (only that codec)
    MJPEG MOV (only that codec)

So, I would recommend that if you aren't going to return it, you use TotalVideoConverter, and change the audio setting so that it converts from whatever it is to either mp3 (small) or PCM WAV (large), which would be muxed with the MJPEG video into the converted AVI.
    Or,
You Use Virtualdub to do the equivalent.
    Or,
Use QTPro like I originally said.

My guess is that your original audio codec was something else (AC3, AAC ?) which was acceptable on your pc, but not on the player. You'll probably want to try both MP3 and WAV to see if they're both acceptable from within an AVI on that player.

    Good luck,
    Scott

I have a PocketPC/GPS, same price range as an iPod and it plays every video i have divx/xvid, mpeg 1/2, without converting, straight off the SD card. Off course, it really isnt much of a music player (no headphone out to start off ), but for video, I think it's the best portable device I can think of.
