  1. This is an unusual problem. I recently formatted my PC (have done it many times before) however this time. whenever I play back a movie file in windows player, a dvd in windvd or bring live tv on via a digital tv receiever on my pc. The picture comes out really dark like as if the contrast has been turned right down on a TV (but it hasnt been) ive tried everything but nothing fixes the problem. Once and only once I got everything to come up perfect but after shutting the programes all down and loaded them up again problem same as ever.

flash movies or mov files in quicktime player are fine, but anykind of 'video' or video steam comes out like the contrast has been turned right down and its driving me mad.. anyone got ANY kind of clue what this may be and how to fix it? DON'T SAY FORMAT AGAIN

    thanks in advance.

Sounds like possibly video card drivers/settings..maybe with video overlay. Or possibly, settings within the specific codecs.

I had the same problem recently after installing Pinnacle 9 software. Not sure if that was the cause per se, but I noticed it about that time.

It was very strange; working in the program the video was very dark, and it encoded very dark, but when I played the finished video on another computer it looked normal.

Anyway, I re-installed the nVidia video drivers and the problem went away on the video computer.

  5. Right thanks for you help. I have now fixed the problem I had tried re-installing my video card drivers before to no avail, but new drivers just released did those and that's done the trick. thanks
