Hi I had some foreign language films i wanted to keep as Divx files, wanted to burn english subtitles into the image, had a lot of trouble finding a software to do it, only one I've found was Magic DVD Ripper, it did a great job. Are there any others anyone would like to reccommend?

Also wanted to know if I have a Xvid film would it play on a DVD/Divx player or would I have to convert it to Divx first?

V new to these things, having great fun exchanging films tho, many thanks,

Most DivX players support XviD too, yes.
Some may require you to change the FourCC to DivX (a quick patch of the AVI header).
For DVD to AVI with hard (or selectable, if your player supports it) subs, try avi.net

Or Fairuse Wizard (Free version here) or AutoGk. Both creates permanent subtitles if you don't select "extract subtitles" or "use external subtitles".

My Divx certified player will play Divx and Xvid, and also read external subs in a number of formats, including .srt and .idx/sup
