I am having some problems with my PVR-150MCE. I found a solution to the loud audio issue, but I am still having two problems. I am using the latest drivers from the hauppauge site, http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/support_pvr150.html

One problem is distortion when capturing a bright white screen, or any flashing (a bomb going off is where I encounter this.) After one explosion and the screen going white, there was a black bar bouncing up from the bottom of the picture. The pictue doesn't bounce, just a black bar at the bottom. Also in one scene, with the screen gpoing white from one side to the other, a diagonal rainbow stripe goes across the screen. Both the black bar and diagonal rainbow bar only last for a second or so.

The other problem is the brightness issue many have had. I don't have as severely as some have reported, but just in some cases where an small area of the screen where it is especially bright as compared to the rest. A place I encountered it was where there was a zoom-in on someone's face with a bright overhead light above the face. The original still had details on his face, the captured video most of his face all one bright color. There are some tweaking instructions on this page, they are for PAL but would they be ok for NTSC also? https://www.videohelp.com/capturecards.php?CaptureCardRead=503

I have a hookup like this, if it matters JVC 9911 w/line TBC on->TBC-1000->PVR150MCE. I also have a Panasonic E55 connected to the TBC-1000. The E55 recorded the tape with no black or rainbow bars (the pictue quality was not as good, I was surprised that the PVR-150 'removed' much of the analog grain.)

Anyway, I was looking around with the Hauppauge Tweaker, and noticed the Automatic Gain Control is off. Should it be on? Could this be causing the black bars and rainbow stripe? I left all of the defaults except the audio setting which I had to lower of course. Could the TBCs be causing the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Done. I named it pv150-bomb.mpg. I also uploased a JPEG of the frame with the problem. Notice when the atom bomb goes off, the bottom of the screen bounces (and even begins tearing at the top of the screen!). My E55 did not have this at all and recorded it perfectly, no bounce, no tearing.

The clip you give me not long enuogh for any real playback.
Second problem is that picture you upload is has a blank screen which means you using Windows Media Player which dosen't allow for screenshot to be take.
Use WinTV2000 for playback it has a build in screenshot tool just be sure change the Rez something higher like 800x600 in Perf | Snap Shot tab.

I uploaded a fresh copy of the clip. I think the upload screwed up last night, why it was so short. Sorry about that!
