  1. Well i am ripping my DVD's to hard drive and then do the conversion thing with with DVD2AVI and then TMPGenc. Well when i convert to VCD using TMPGenc i get not so crisp letters.(EX: Actors names, title of movie, and subtitles) Also i get some blocks in the movie, especially when there is alot of action. Can someone suggest something to do to clear all this up ??

    Xtreme,

    Something to note...

I've ben horsing around with VCD for a while now, and get pretty good quality
w/ out blocks (unless you scrutinise each scene/frame) and one thing I started to
notice is that, one, it could be your CD-R or CD-RW brand. I just started using a
bunch of CDRW's from Stamples brand and I can burn Sample A and Sample B
to these CDRWs and then shortly after that, do another Burn project, ie, burn
Sample C and Sample A and Sample B (any order) and then when I play em all,
maybe on one of them, I'll get one or two scenes that will jump once or twice and
conintue on nice and smoothly. Then, burn these same Sample ABC along with
some other ones, and NO jumping in any!
My conclusion to this all is this. It's dependant on each CD. The cheaper you pay,
the MORE they play (tricks on ya, that is) !!!

But, my other advise is to keep playing with your method. Hint, its not just your
MPEG encoding, that is causing your blocks, but a few other things I've noticed
that people here overlook. Take a good look at your method. Then, see/read other
peoples methods to get ideas. They may open other avenues that may reflect
    your current process.
Don't be afraid to experiment... even if it means staying up till 3am !!!

As soon as I can figure out how to share my clips (I've run out of storage webspace)
I will be able to produce some clips for all.
