    i hope this is the right place to post this, currently i own 2 season of smallville. i wanted to back them up on my pc and make them a file so i can play them on my laptop when i go on a trip ( playing dvd burns the battery) can anyone get me some links on this forum to find out how to do this. i have done a search but any suggestions would help. also once i rip a dvd to the hard drive can the dvd still be used noramlly in a dvd player? thanks

    Hey, welcome to the forums. I suppose there are a number of ways to do what you're asking. If you want it to play back as if the DVD were in the drive you can do that by using DVD Decrypt. The help files should be enough to explain how to extract the data from the disc.
    If I were you, I would select the option to output a .iso file(an image of the disc), which you can play with certain media players such as BS Player. You can also download Daemon Tools which will make a virtual DVD drive that can read the .iso file. This will give you every effect of having the disc in the drive except the battery drain.[/url]

    just a quick question, when i use the dvd decrpeter will my dvd still work later ( it wont get damaged or anything?) also when it becomes a .iso file is it just one huge file? thanks alot

    one other thing, i plan to back up the actual dvd onto my pc with dvd decrypter, my only question is, if i want to actually play the file on my apple laptop is there a program like daemon tools to do on my ibook? thanks alot

    Oh, you're on an iBook? hrm.....I don't know that DVD Decrypt or Daemon tools have Mac-compatible equivalents. I think that's a question you should ask in the Mac forum. Could one of the mods move this thread to Mac?
