    Hi all,

I generated a .sup file using PGCDemux and every time I use that file with GUI for DVDAuthor (and DVDAuthorGUI, for that matter) the program crashes, creating a stack dump. GUI for DVDAuthor claims it can use a .sup file, yet it doesn't work. Any explanation for this problem?

When I use the .sup file with Muxman, all is good: I get my IFO, BUP, and VOB files as expected.

    Thanks.

  2. The same here. My workarround:
After muxman complete, I am using vstrip to concatenate the vobs to one big vob. Then I rename the big vob->mpg.
Start the GFD and add the mpg. Click on subtitles and select your sup file. Click OK and make menu and everything. When ready click Create batch (not Create DVD or Burn DVD).
Copy your mpg to the working folder of GFD and rename it *_SUB1.mpg. (if you mux more subs, relatively _SUB2.mpg or _SUB3.mpg). Now open Mainbatch.bat file (right click->Edit) and execute every bat file in order given there, skipping batchrun0.bat (this is very important). When dvdauthor complete use IfoEdit to copy subtitle colors fron the ifo created with muxman to the ifo created with GFD.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it out.

Oh, there's some other subtitle weirdness with GFD: I noticed that the video momentarily stops for a split second before the subtitles appear and that seems to happen throughout the movie. At first I thought it was something going on with PowerDVD (v 4.1), but when I playback a VOB files created by Muxman, I don't see this peculiarity.

Also, the subs are way out of sync in GFD-generated files (the .srt was created using Subrip from the original .sup file which was ripped using PGCDemux), while the subs in the Muxman-generated file are perfect.

The only apparent difference is that GFD uses a .srt file, whereas Muxman uses the .sup...

Heh, the whole subtitle thing is both interesting and frustrating at the same time.

  5. Sorry, I missed this thread. Do you always get a stackdump error in dvdauthor with GfD (using SUP)?

As SUP files are not that big, could you send me a 'problem' file?

BTW: The problem will be solved quite soon, as I'm working on a new version which supports muxman directly (as alternative 'authoring engine') with more or less the same functionality (multi VTS, buttons, menus...)
The 'Look and Feel' of GfD will not change thereby, so you can use muxman as easily as dvdauthor.

If anyone is interested in the 'alpha version', just send me a note.
