  1. Hi

    I have a mpg1 file that I try to convert to mpg-2 using tmpgenc
    when I try to convert it it give me a streaming error and it won't convert the file.
    There is probably a problem with this file because i have been converting these king of file
    for about 20 times.
    I have no problem reading this file with media player classic

    I would like to know if there is a way I can convert this file by solving the problem in the file
    maybe there is a few bad frame in the video.

    So if anyone can help me with this issue
    I would appreciate
    thanx

    Try opening the file in virtualdubmod and go to check errors. Then you can see if there are bad frames.

    Maybe some of these will help:

    BTW, Virtualdub (and its variants) are probably more helpful when the source is AVI, since it natively will want to output AVI. However, you can frameserve from virtualdub to an MPEG encoder if MPEG is your output choice.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    For what appear's to be broken block's in both mpeg's and avi ... even mov's ... re-encode it via super .

    There is an mpeg properties tool in tool section , use it to find out the video and audio bitrate's first .

    Set output as mpeg .
    Set no change to video scale .
    Aspect should have no check's .
    Place "known bitrate" in bitrate .
    Hq if you want .

    Audio out as mp2 (easier for vdub to work with)
    Set bitrate to "known bitrate" from mpeg properties tool .

    Or , set to no lower than 96 ... higher is better .

    Hit "encode now" and wait .

    =================

    One issue remain's in super ... do you see what I mean ?

    No 24 frames/sec ... lame ... need to reclock the video after .

    In the case you video is any other fps not listed in super ... convert to avi .

    Use same video setup ...
    Output is avi
    Codec is xvid
    Audio is mp3

    Double that mpeg video bitrate .
    Audio sample as 44100 .
    No lower than 96 kbps .

    Encode .

    ====================

    Open avi in vdub .
    Video - hold ctrl , and press r .

    Second edit box in new window
    Set frame rate to that of the original mpeg .
    Click ok .

    Video to direct stream copy .
    Audio to full processing .
    Audio - compressor

    Chose mpeg layer 3 (48kbit/s , 24,000hz , 6kb/s - highly compatable for mpeg4 player's)

    Save as avi , name it and go ... wait .

    ====================

    As for conversion of the known framerate to other ... most tool's get this wrong , or user's try to apply specific trick's .

    I prefer ulead video studio for this , never an issue ... "9 se" cheap in ebay ... considering what you get for the price , it's a bargain .

    Version 7 se ... require's two updated dll's ... saving split video clip's broken under xp .
    Version 8 se ... require's a 110mb download to fix filter's issue ... got me buggered , never had an issue with them .

    Version 9 se ... unknown ... support's many format's as input and output ... wmv hd ... it's bonker's ... user has control over output specific's if custom format is chosen ... burning vcd , dvd ... share video online ..

    Add a few free tool's , and you have all you may ever need for xvid , divx to cd ... pal / nstc to vcd/svcd/dvd ...

    Vhs just finished recording from the dvd ... perfect ... off to see if my other theory work's now that I have a screwed up out of snyc video to practice with .
