Does anybody have any experience using Any DVD with software like dvd decrypter, dvdFabDecrypter or Nero 6 ? Just wondering if Any DVD is useful in these situations. I am simply talking about backing up regular dvd discs. I have had the trial for a few weeks. I also am not 100% sure it does all it is supposed to while running in the background, or do I have to chose "Rip Video-DVD to Harddisk" in the right-click menu. I will read up more on what Any DVD can do for me and see what the reports here say.

thanx in advance for any feedback,

AnyDVD runs in the background, replacing the need for DVDdecrypter or DVDFabDecrypter. With those, you rip the original DVD to the hard drive, removing copy protection. Then, you run another program to compress and burn.
With AnyDVD, you can compress the movie straight from the original DVD in your drive, saving a step. Slysoft sells CloneDVD, which works with AnyDVD. If you have a DVD reader drive and a DVD burner, you can put the original DVD in the reader, and put a blank DVD in the burner. Run AnyDVD and CloneDVD together to copy the original. With AnyDVD running, CloneDVD will read the original disk and compress it to a folder on your hard drive. When it's through compressing, it will start burning to the blank.

Compressing? I don't like the sound of that. I don't want to "shrink" all the things I backup.

Does AnyDVD and CloneDVD work with ISO burning and/or does CloneDVD allow booktype setting the DVD ROM? Thats the best way I can be sure my backups will play in dvd players properly.

    thanx for the info,

If you don't want to compress anything, then you'll have to use the dual layer disks. A friend of mine uses AnyDVD and Record Now (I think that's the name of his burning software), to read and burn from one drive to the other.

The rip to harddisk option is like using fixVTS. It repairs the errors in the file structure of the dvd. If you just use anydvd and drag and drop the files, you would have errors in the file structure that you would need to fix.

I use anydvd all the time. I do not use dual layer discs so I have to shrink. I run anydvd and then shrink using dvdshrink.
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief.
