adding subtitles to avi

first of all i am completely new to this so i would just like to ask one question

i have an avi file, but where do you guys get all your subtitles from? and how do you go about adding subs to an avi file?

Hi el hombre 44,

Welcome to the forums.

You can either:

* Do them yourself - laborious but neccessary if they don't exist elsewhere.

* If your AVI is from a DVD or film, rip the subs from the original DVD.

As for adding the subs to the AVI, check out the guides - it's in there.

Thanks for replying Daemon, but is there like a specific site I can download subtitles from? I can search how to add subtitles to AVI files but the problem is that I dont know where to get the subtitles other than the DVD file. Are there any ways? Thanks.

Ripping the subs from the DVD file is by far the easiest way. There'll be guides covering that too. It avoids any synching issues.
