This is an unusual problem that I have not come across in my many uses of DVD recorders (I have 5, all different models), so I turn to you kind people for help. I was having a problem looking for other posts that deal with this so here I am!
I know that Panasonic recorders are pretty disliked by this community, however the DMR-ES10 has always been reliable with very good picture quality. As someone who works in video production I'm very picky about video quality and it passes my test. With that being said I've had a slight problem with the discs that I have recorded from my DirecTV DVR signal. HOWEVER I do not have this problem on all players, and on no players when I am recording from a VHS tape to DVD.
The DirecTV DVR/TiVo I use is the Hughes Series2 model. It is connected to the DVD recorder via RCA cables (and not the cheapies either) because I never got around to hooking it up in a manner that might produce better quality, however because the picture was always satisfactory I never really cared.
When playing back the DVD on my Magnavox MWD 200F DVD player the video plays fine, however there is no sound. Playback on other DVD players and recorders, including my computers (a Mac Mini, a Intel iMac, a Dell and a G4 Tower), was fine. However the odd thing is that when playing back discs made of VHS recordings from my JVC HR-S5900U S-VHS VCR there was absolutely nothing wrong with the play back on the Magnavox MWD 200F.
Is this a problem that anyone else has had? Can anyone think of a explanation? I've tried using different cords, all of that jazz, and still the same problems. It's not a HUGE deal since the discs play on every other DVD player I have used it on, however it would be nice to rectify this problem if at all possible!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thansk!

You might want to check if the Magnavox has some set up conditions for audio. In this thread, the poster had no sound but it was caused by a setup condition solved by turning on VSS ( virtual surround sound ).

The source for his video was an online source not the recorder. He is just trying to playback on the recorder and there was no sound because of settings for the recorder.
I am suggesting you investigate if the Magnavox has any settings for audio that might be off as in the above case, VSS was off in the playback machine ( which happens to be a recorder ). -
I do not know if this will help or not, but you may try a firmware upgrade: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1465736
