I can't set the video format to anything but 320x240 when using virtualdub.
when I set to something else, I get the following error
"Error 418: Unsupported video format"
I want to capture at 352x288
MGI Videowave 3 SE lets me use that resolution...
any suggestions?

My Belkin USB video bus will only capture at 320x240 cause it sucks sorry my crappy bt848 tv tuner/capture card is superior in every way if you want to capture at higher resoluion try turning preview on instead of using overlay or better turn them both off and set size in custom format to what you want works with my capture card anyway if i do all that i can instead of capturing at 352x240 cards limit i can capture up to 480x576 can capture at 768x576 but drop more frames i dont use the belkin video bus at all.
hope that helps. -
I tried switching off the preview, but it didn't solve the problem.
VirtualDub and FreeVCR both seem to have the same problem and seem to point the finger at the drivers. (yes, I have the latest drivers).
the strange thing about this problem is that not only can I not increase the resolution, I also cannot decrease the resolution.
In fact, 320x240 is the only resolution that VirtualDub will allow me to choose without complaining about "unsupported video format".
videowave has no problem seleting other formats, but it is not a good capture program and currently will not let me choose alternate compression formats. -
I know the pain you feel! I finally sold my old Videobus 2 yesterday. I had purchased it in order to transfer home videos. I too found that it didn't actually support the 352x240 in any program other than the video prog it came with.
If you can still get your money back on it....do. I went out and got an ATI Radeon 32DDR card, and absolutely love it. Even when I cap at 352x240, the resolution and quality is superior to what I got with my old Belkin.
Videowave is about your only option if you want that 352x240 that is advertised on their website as a max res...

VideoBus II is actually a smooth unit for people who want to a) not open their computers and b) only want to make small frame videos for use on their computers. It even captures audio without connecting to the sound card. But it is worthless for TV sized output (ie, VCD's).

besides all that, I am still keen to get 352x288 to work with VirtualDub.
I just ran a tiny program called AMCap and even that let me do it. but no compression available.
One thing I have noticed is that AMCap displayed the name of my capture device correctly.
but VirtualDub displayed it as Microsoft WDM Image Capture (Win32).
is that supposed to happen? anyone fixed anything similar?
