  1. Weird this. Using Windows 2000 or XP (ive reinstalled), virtual dub (and other capture programs) are maxing out at 16.99997 fps - and Im getting nowhere fast.

I have a GeForce 2 GTS card (Asus v7700) with built in capture. Never had these problems with my old VooDoo 3500TV (same system)

Ive put all the latest drivers for everything, reinstalled, etc, etc. I have a RAID0 system with a pair of UDMA100 drives on an Abit KG7 RAID mobo and plenty of RAM...so I KNOW it's not the I/O

The 16.9997 fps seems strange - as if it's maxing out. My AGP is set to 4x and fastwrite enabled. vdub reports the max i/o bandwith to be around 1mb/second - much less than what the system can handle (and everything loads very quickly indeed)

Anyone got any ideas ? driving me mad !

ANY codec I use gets the same - wether using internal vdub routines or the compatibility mode. Used several revisions of both asus drivers and nvidia (with the nvidia wdm108 capture stuff)

  2. I am also using Asus v7700 deluxe card for capturing. I noticed in the Asus manual book that capturing in Windows NT/2000 does not produce good quality pictures comparing to Win9x, hence I have been capturing only in Win9x.
I have downloaded various Win2k drivers and the result was the same as yours, even though the capture program does not drop any frames the video is still jerky as if it does not capture the full fps. I don't think its because of the codecs, maybe its the driver or the card itself.

  3. Fixed !

Edit this key to say PAL rather than NTSC
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11C
    E-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0018\VideoStandard
    String Value (REG_SZ)AL

    or

Extract all the files from the wdm108.exe file, and alter the nvcap.inf file (and uninstall the old one / reinstall again):

    HKR,,VideoStandard,,NTSC
    to:
    HKR,,VideoStandard,,PAL

Thanks to Kjell Munkestam for his help !
