How can I prevent dropped frames using the ATI AIW?

It depends on your system and how much memory. I usually caputure using the best quality setting, but I change the resolution to 352 X 240, and I don't get any drop frames, but when I move my mouse, I get < 1% frame drop.
If I let it capture using the original resolution setting, I get 30 - 40% drop frame.
My system is Athlon 1 Ghz, 768 Ram, Win XP, MMC 7.2. I have two HD, (5200 RPM & 7200 RMP, both ATA 100), it doesn't matter which HD, both got the same results.
