  1. Here is the whole story.

I download the Centropy release of LORD OF THE RINGS. When I extracted all the files, it was in BIN/CUE format. So I used ISO buster to extract the BIN file. It extracted to a VCD format movie. The folder was called VideoCD and there was 5 folders in it (CDI, EXT, MPEGAV, SEGMENT and VCD). In the MPEGAV folder, I renamed the file to LOTR1.mpeg and deleted everything else.

I watched the movie and everything was fine. Then I wanted to burn it to VCD so I went to the HOW TO BURN USING NERO thing on the site. I copied the MPEG video over and it converted it to a DAT file for a VCD. I burnt it to a CD-R and everything seemed fine. I went to play it in the DVD player and it said "No Disc".

So I tried to 'How To Burn a VCD Using Easy CD Creater'. Everything went fine. The discs looked fine. They both had the DAT file and those 5 folders. But this disc did the same thing.

I began to think that when I renamed the DAT file to MPEG, I screwed something up so I downloaded the whole rip again and just burn that 5 folder thing using NERO. SAME THING.

I need help. My DVD player does support VCDs.

    Here is what I'm using:

    Samsung DVD-M101
    FUJIFILM 80Min/700mb CD-R

It is not that your DVD is not VCD compatible it is that your DVD player will not read CD-R/RW
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdlist/dvdplayers.html
    check compatablity chart.
The .iso that you d/l was the VCD which you don't need to rename the .dat file. You could use CD-Rwin burning program.

You can always make a VCD to watch on computer but not on your Samsung.

  4. NO!!!!!!!

    That's ....... BS!!!!

I read the comments, and I noticed VCDs MAY work using Memorex CD-Rs. I'll buy a couple today.

  5. No..you using the wrong mpeg, Nero doesnt read/write those mpegs (ones that are renamed dat files)....in Nero, use the "Burn Image" option and chose the BIN file that you originally downloaded, burn to the disc...use a CDRW to, i will never understand why people say they waste disk with CDRWs on the market...if that doesnt work, then yes check to see if your player even supports VCDs.

  7. Why is it that people keep wanting to extract things out of CUE/BIN images??

A CUE/BIN image is a DISC IMAGE. This means that all you need to do is BURN IT: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd/burning_cuebin_images.html

If you go around extracting things, you are going to miss out on any menus that are on the original disc, not to mention that you may be authoring it incorrectly.

As for the original poster's problem, you definitely have a media compatibility problem. You will have to experiment with different brands of CD-R/W media to find one that works. In this situation, CD-RW often works better.
