Hi there,
I just got my Wedding DVD back the other day. But the guy has tape all this crap in it. So I want to re-edit the dvd.
Now there is a slight problem. When I use DVD Decrypter/DVD Fab to rip it to my PC I notice the following in the VTS_01
it says the following
PGC 1[01:55:44]
PGC 2[00:00:01]
PGC 3[01:56:44]
PGC 4[00:00:01]
Now I can still make a full copy of the DVD but I want to edit it.
What is the best way to convert it so that i can edit it. And what program should I use to edit.
I tried Nero Re-encode but for some strange reason when I select the VOB file it said like 4 gigs but the video was only for 2 sec. Really strange. And when I use VOB2MPEG the same thing happens plz help
Any ideas ???

I'm still a noob, so this advice may be worth exactly what you paid for it.
I had a DVD from a friend's DVD recorder that wouldn't play on anything. I was able to copy one of the .vob files to my hard drive, change the extension to .mpg and open it in my video editor. I did my editing and burned it to a DVD that plays.
I'm sure others will have better suggestions.44E -
I would rip The DVD with DVD Decrypter into (One Big File) and Import that into VideoReDo or Cuttermaran in Cuttermaran you Must Demux.
These Program's are made for editing Mpg Video,"All though Still not the Best format to Edit with".
Good Luck! -

ok i will give that a go. But I still don't know how the guy made the dvd with a structre like what it has ie. 2 files nealry 2 hrs each. When it only has 1 big file in it.

a PGC is not a file, just an order to play programs in, hence "Program Chain".
You can have multiple PGC's which point to the same titles or parts of titles. -
ok, i understand that. But the million dollar question is "how is that when I do make a copy of the DVD, it is like a 4 gig file size that only plays for 5 secs (on the PC) , but works fine on a DVD player ???"

is there any way by looking into ifo file to see what program made a the dvd ?

sometimes. try opening the video_ts.vob in Titlewriter to see if this info was written into the provider-id.
If you open the files in DVD shrink and see 32 blank subtitle streams and 8 blank audio streams, that's a sure sign it was made with DVD Maestro. -
well i am about 99% sure that vob4 has a error on it. just tried to make another iso of the dvd and it crashes on 70% of reading the DVD. hmmm man I fell like throwing this DVD back to the guy who made it !!!!.
So now I will have to try a different dvd reader. I think it is time to bring out the A07
