I just ran into these at www.divx.com/hd
They have apparently been encoded with the new Divx 6 encoder. They open up in Divx player at a native rez of 1280 x 720 and the Shark Tail and Madagascar trailers look positively glorious. I computed that these samples are about 30-35 mb per minute so even a 2 hour movie should fit confortably in a single DVD/R
Now, the problem is how to play these on a HD tv. Well there are also a few links to DVD players that supposedly can play these HD Divx files.
I am thinking that finally, or at least until burnable HD disc become commonplace, I can use my HD cam and output to somthing else but back to tape or to my HDs.
The trailers are downloadable but they are 50-70- meg Zip files so they are not small or streaming. They will also open in Nero Player though it gives and error you can ignore before it plays.
Please let me know your oppinion and whether it might be a worthwhile way to output to a DVD/R as data. As long as these DVD players featured on the Divx site are reliable, it would seem like it would be a good option.

I use a LinkPlayer2 DVD player. IT has component outputs and will output 480i thru 1080i. It connects to a PC via a home network and also has a USB port.
It will accept TS, Mpeg1-2, Divx, Xvid and Jpeg files with resolutions up to 1920x1080 from a DVD or USB flash disk or PC. You can also receive radio stations over the internet.
I downloaded those trailers a while back and they looked great on a 45" LCD HDTV.

The player suggesred above seems to be able to play these newer 1280x720 Divx files. That's what I was looking for since I can now at least conveniently viw my HD footage simply by burning to a DVD/R on my Toshiba 52" DLP.
