Hoping to take all my VHS tapes and turning them into DVDs I bought a Kozumi KTV-01C capture card. It comes with the Conexant BT878A chip. I installed it without any problems. The card came with Honestech TVR software for capturing and watching TV. But the program keeps crashing. After a couple of minutes of TV viewing I get an error message. Also, when I record something and I press play it crashes immediately. I've installed the latest drivers and also the latest update for the software but still nothing.
For reference my system is:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
MSI KT3 Ultra ARU motherboard
512MB PC 2100 DDR RAM
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB video card
Windows 2000 with SP4
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Have you tried another capture program?? If it records in avi as well as mpeg try using virtualdub or another free capture program.
Worse comes to worse you can always uninstall the drivers and reinstall them.

I've already installed and uninstalled both the drivers and the software but it just keeps on crashing. In fact, I've just done so again and it now crashes even more

Possible software conflict- try to eliminate/shutdown other running s/w when capturing, all but nesc. windows components.

BTW, I have no idea where the error log is actually created.
The only "active" software I have running on the background is the firewall (Zonealarm). No resident antivirus shields or anything of the sort.
Also, I notice that when I start up the PC and I run honestech TVR it crashes before it even starts completely. -
About 62°C under full continous load but I get no crashes while gaming, even under "heavy games (Half Life 2, Doom 3, etc.)

I've also been getting a "driver not correctly installed" when using virtualdub. But I've installed and re installed many many times now......*sigh*

Well, I "solved" the problem. had to goback to the store and exchange the card for another with the Philips chip. It seems that my video card had some compatibility issued with the conexant chip. The new one worked straight out of the box.
Thanks a lot anyway.
