  1. Hi,

    I have three avi file that I have put through GSpot and it says i have all the correct codecs to play, I try and play it and it comes up with an error "uknown". I try to open it in Virtual Dub and it comes up with the same error...

    Any help...Please??

    VirtualDub just says unknown? Or it says unable to find decompressor XVID..............?

    Well no you don't. Check the compression menu in VDub and XviD won't be listed.

  5. Ok, so i can play other xvid files though?

    Its not listed in compression...how do i get it so it is there?

    The error is "Couldnt locate decomprssor for format 'XVID' (unknown).

    From recollection it goes on to explain that it requires a VfW decompressor, not dshow as used in media players which explains why you can play XviD files.

    Try re-installing. Koepi's installers I believe include a util for checking vidc enteries. Hopefully that should sort it.
