  1. Hi. I'm fairly new at this so please be patient.
I was able to rip 8 of my dvd movies but 2 of them, "The patriot" and "Gladiator", I had to use 3 discs for each movie.
I followed Sefy's guide and used smartripper, dvdavi and then TMPGEnc.
Is there a trick to making 2 1/2 movies fit into just 2 cds?

  2. aglips,

Have you tried using Sefys' TMPGEnc. template? Download them in the "Tools" section. Says it could fit 85+ min movie into a single CD. Good Luck, Jordan

I had a similar Problem with a mpeg rip which was under 80 min after cutting but would go off the scale with Nero?

In the end I de-multiplexed the file and then re-multiplexed and it worked.

I think it may have been something to do with setting it for VCD in TMPGEnc cutter?

Also check to see it the mpeg is VCD compliant

  4. Sounds a bit weird you can't fit 75min of movie into 80min CDR, you can even fit that into 74min with a bit of overburning, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

What is the size of your resulting 75min part ? is it 750mb ?

  5. Sefy, I'm not so sure but I think it was over a little over 710 mb and my cd only goes as much as 700mb.
    I have a sony 8X8X24 spressa burner.
Is there a way to overburn.
I'm just a newbie at this and any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

  6. aglips, even if your file is 710mb, that would mean the play is about 71min, you don't need to overburn, when burning a VideoCD type of file, you can burn 740mb of movie on a 74min CDR.

You just gotta make sure you are using a VideoCD authoring burn program, like Nero for example which has a specific VideoCD and SuperVCD options.

  7. Sefy, I use Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum to burn my vcds.
doesn't it look for MBs rathe than mins. since my disc will only hold 700mb then how can I burn over 700 onto it?
    now I'm really confused.

  8. Kind of a pity you use EZ CD, but that's your choice, anyway, when you burn a VCD/SVCD, you need to select the VideoCD Creator function of your EZ CD software, then in VCD mode, each 1min = 10mb, this is a standard, so you really don't need to worry

  9. Buy 99min. CD-R's and should be able to get on 2 CD's. Providing your burner can overburn and burn up to 99min. I know HP 9100 and 9200 series can, I know I have one of each.

  10. thxkid, you sure about that ? HP doesn't tend to support those large capcity media.

  11. aglips,

Thanks for mentioning that you are using Sleazy CD Creator 5 Plat. This is the root of your problems. Due to a clever bug in Sleazy, it will refuse to create a VCD greater than 65 minutes without some prodding from you, the user. It would appear that the writers of this program forgot that VCDs are written in a different mode than data discs. It says, "oh, you want to write more than 650M, well this ain't possible." In reality, as stated elsewhere, a 650M data disc holds 740M of music or VCD. Even worse, the Video CD creator doesn't know of the existance of 700M/80minute discs.

The solution is easy, use the Video CD Creator to make a disc image. Close that program then open the (data) CD Creator. Burn a disc from the image. Works for me everytime.

  14. By the way, as long as the movie is less than 140mins long, I have no problem using easy cd creator. it's quite easy to use.
