I'm having problems, I'll try to be clear and concise if anyone would be willing to offer advise.

Here's the deal...I've downloaded winrar files that have been encoded as svcds. Once I extract the files they usually end up as a bin/cue. I have used to vcdgear to convert some of these files to mpeg. My problem is that once converted (and sometimes not converted) to mpeg the files end up being 801MB in size which is 1MB over the 800MB max that nero will let me burn. Nero just ejects the disc. It's hard for me to believe that people have posted these files knowing that they will be impossible to burn because of their size.

I've tried to go back and re-convert the mpegs to a bin/cue but have run into nothing but error messages. I have tried to burn a disc directly from the bin/cue but just get lost in the process. The turorial on this site about VCDeasy just has screenshots and no step-by-step that I have used to learn about VCDs and Nero, etc. I've downloaded just about every program listed on this site and my head is starting to spin.

I'm really interested in the benefits of svcds if anyone can offer "relatively simple" advice.

    P.S. What's a "c" file? I know that "r" is winrar. Is "c" similar?

Thanks in advance o gurus of the forum!

I have heard that some versions of Nero won't properly burn bin/cue but I have not tried to do this so that may or may not be your problem.

There are a lot of questions that may need answering to get to the root of the problem but if you want something relatively simple to try do this - try burning one of your original bin/cue sets with CDRWIn. http://www.goldenhawk.com The trial will burn only at 1x and be careful about trying any creative ways of increasing that speed, if you catch my drift, because some of them don't work - it makes nice coasters that way. First open the cue sheet in a text editor and make sure the path to the bin file matches the way you have the file saved - ie. it points to the correct location, and if not, edit the cue sheet to match and then save it again as a text file. Use notepad.

  3. Yes, ngnr is very much correct with older versions of Nero and BIN/CUE files -- the new 5.5.6.4 version now has full support, so update and you should be fine.

OK, when you go to burn an MPEG as a VCD/SVCD in Nero, do not use the CD-ROM (ISO) option -- these are not data discs. Scroll down and select the Video-CD or Super Video-CD option. Since these CD's are not written as data discs, you can get ~820 MB MPEG's on an 80 minute (700 MB) CD-R!

    Good luck,

  4. I agree also....CDRWin or Goldenhawk are the people who basically invented the ISO/BIN/CUE file system.

Whenever I need to burn a ISO image, I always use CdrWin and never have any problems.

It sounds like you are in the "know" so you shouldn't have any problems finding CDRWin if you catch my drift.
